Start with these three checks

Before anything else:

  1. Check your Westio transaction history. It shows whether a payment was received, declined or is still processing.
  2. Check your bank or e-wallet app. Look for a block notice, a pending authorisation or a completed payment.
  3. Check your own limits. A deposit limit you set in Account → Safer Gambling will block deposits once reached.

Most problems become clear once you’ve compared what your bank says with what the casino says.

Bank gambling blocks

Many UK banks – including Monzo, Starling, Barclays, HSBC and Lloyds – let customers block gambling transactions. If you’ve turned one on, casino deposits by card (and often Apple Pay and Google Pay) will be declined.

Removing a block usually involves a cooling-off period of up to 48 hours, depending on your bank. That delay is deliberate. If you switched the block on to protect yourself, think hard before turning it off. Gamban and BetBlocker can add a further layer by blocking gambling sites on your devices.

3D Secure and card details

Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in its app. If you don’t approve it quickly, the payment times out and shows as declined. Try again with your banking app open. Also double-check the card number, expiry date and CVV.

Credit cards

Gambling with credit cards is banned in the UK, so Westio accepts debit cards only. Some cards that look like debit cards are actually charge or credit products, and will be declined.

Apple Pay and Google Pay issues

  • Use the mobile site in Safari (Apple Pay) or Chrome (Google Pay) – other browsers may not show the wallet button.
  • Make sure the card in your wallet is a debit card, in your name, without a gambling block.
  • Update your phone’s operating system and wallet app.
  • Remember withdrawals go to the linked debit card and take 1–3 working days after approval.

Paysafecard and withdrawals

Paysafecard is a prepaid voucher, so money can’t be sent back to it. If you deposited with Paysafecard, Westio pays your withdrawals by bank transfer. Add your bank details in the cashier, making sure the account is in your own name. Bank transfers take 1–3 working days after approval.

Open Banking, Rapid Transfer and Revolut

Bank-based payments fail for different reasons from cards. If the redirect to your banking app doesn’t open, make sure the app is installed and updated, then try again from your phone’s default browser. A payment that you approved but which shows as failed has usually not left your account – check your bank’s transaction list before retrying. Some banks also apply their gambling block to Open Banking payments, not just cards, so the same block that stops a card deposit can stop these too.

E-wallet problems

PayPal, Skrill and Neteller rarely fail on Westio’s side. When they do, the cause is usually a verification check on the e-wallet account itself, a spending limit set within the wallet, or a wallet registered under a different name or email. Log in to the wallet directly to check for notices, and make sure your wallet profile matches your casino account details.

Missing deposits

If the money has left your bank but hasn’t appeared in your Westio balance:

  1. Refresh the page and check the transaction history.
  2. Wait 30 minutes – occasionally the payment provider’s confirmation is delayed.
  3. Don’t deposit again – you risk two charges.
  4. Screenshot the payment in your bank or e-wallet app, showing date, time, amount and reference.
  5. Contact Westio live chat with the screenshot, or send an email ticket via the Help Centre contact form.
  6. Ask for a reference number and follow up after 24 hours if needed.

In most cases the deposit is either credited manually or the payment is reversed by the provider back to you.

Duplicate charges

Seeing two charges for one deposit usually means one is a pending authorisation – a temporary hold that your bank releases within a few working days. If both show as completed transactions after 3–5 working days, contact live chat with screenshots of both. Westio charges no deposit fees, so any fee you see is from your bank or card provider.

Chargebacks: why to avoid them

A chargeback is when you ask your bank to reverse a payment. It can feel like a quick fix, but at Westio and other UK casinos it has serious consequences:

  • Your account is usually suspended while the dispute is investigated.
  • The account may be closed, and outstanding bonuses removed.
  • The casino may pursue the disputed amount if the deposit was genuinely made by you.

!Talk to Westio before your bank

If a payment really is wrong, raise it with Westio support first and keep a written record. Use a chargeback only for genuine fraud – for example if someone used your card without permission – and tell support straight away.

If you’re thinking about a chargeback because you regret the money you deposited, that’s worth paying attention to. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion tools can help, and the National Gambling Helpline is free 24/7 on 0808 8020 133. Our responsible gambling guide has more.

Escalating a payment dispute

If live chat can’t resolve a payment problem, submit a formal complaint via the Help Centre contact form. Westio must give a final response within 8 weeks. If you’re still unhappy, refer it to IBAS (ibas-uk.com) for free, independent adjudication.

UK-facing casinos must hold a UK Gambling Commission licence – check the licence details in Westio’s site footer against the Commission’s public register before you deposit.

Questions players ask

Why does Westio keep declining my debit card?

+

The most common reasons are a gambling block on your card, a 3D Secure approval that timed out, mistyped details, insufficient funds or a deposit limit you've reached. Your bank app usually shows whether it blocked the payment.

My deposit left my bank but isn't in my Westio balance. What now?

+

Refresh the page and check your Westio transaction history. If it isn't there after 30 minutes, contact live chat with the amount, method, time and a bank screenshot. Don't deposit again in the meantime.

Can I withdraw to Paysafecard at Westio?

+

No. Paysafecard is deposit-only, so Westio pays Paysafecard depositors by bank transfer. You'll need to add bank details in the cashier.

What happens if I file a chargeback against Westio?

+

A chargeback usually leads to your Westio account being suspended while the dispute is investigated, and it may be closed. Always try to resolve payment issues with Westio support first.

Why was I charged twice for one Westio deposit?

+

Often one of the charges is a pending authorisation that drops off within a few working days. If both charges show as completed, contact Westio live chat with screenshots so they can investigate.
